It is with great pleasure that we present the artists Lars Olof Loeld and Jakob Solgren in the joint exhibition “Endast betraktad ros, är som ros betraktad” (Only a Considered Rose, is a Rose Considered).

It is based on a dialogue between two artists concerning the inherent magic in everyday life. They both approach existential sensations through seemingly simple forms. The undercurrent question is how to portray and make a sensation visible through a language?

Lars Olof Loeld belongs to a generation of artists who have been part of the changing conditions in visual art during the 20th century. If artists earlier were dedicated to seek spatial depth the artistic course later on went into new directions, towards other forms of narration and reduction. Loeld’s at once concrete and consistent abstract works have given new perspectives on the perception of an image and its signs of communication. To Jakob Solgren and his generation of artists the break-up with the depth of the imagery was already a fact. With access to a whole different means of expression, the challenges of the artists were radically different. This exhibition brings together two artists from different historical backgrounds, but with a common interest in the linguistic of the image. They share a vision of the work of art as a visual sign located somewhere in between the viewer and the underlying reality.

The phenomena in nature are important as points of departure in the works of both Loeld and Solgren.  Loeld’s vision of how the sun is setting in the horizon and the alchemy that occurs when the sun’s light melts in to the shoreline is a recurring theme. It manifests itself in a balancing act between different elements of vertical and horizontal lines. The heaven’s phenomena through the motion of clouds are also present in the works of Jakob Solgren. It occurs through the formation of clouds as a kind of physical and yet changing characters, creating a dialogue between what is  “here” and beyond. In Solgren’s paintings and sculptures the practical and mundane are always present, although not for its own sake but in communication with the world that surrounds.
